In October, Kevin and I journeyed to Uganda with a team from our church. It was absolutely amazing! To be able to experience it together was truly a blessing. We were able to visit several families who receive support from World Vision! I think our highlight was spending time with our little boy and his grandmother and aunt. I had been there a few times before, but this time was such a blessing to have Kevin with! Bernard's grandmother wanted to know who that man was and why he was with Bernard and myself-I informed her that he was my husband. This, of course, made her cheer and then later ask why she wasn't invited to the wedding!
Bernard is an amazing kid. His mother and father have both passed away due to AIDS and his uncle, who was his primary caregiver, passed away in March 2006. Bernard's older brother, Luutu, has a very special place in our lives too! He was my sponsored child for 4 years. I was able to see him on two different occasions- the second time was November 2004- just two months before he passed away. Being able to hang out with Bernard was priceless. He is very healthy- active- in school- just a sweet kid! We pray he will continue to be healthy and live a long God honoring life!
