A little bump in the road.

Things had been progressing pretty well. Last week, Addy had a slight infection surrounding one of the incisions, so they put her on an antibiotic and it is looking much better! But last night she had more swelling and pain surrounding the knee cap, so back to TRIA we went today. They did a follow up MRI and there may be a re-injury to her meniscus. We are hoping and praying it's just a slight issue and can resolve itself, but we have an email out to her surgeon and a follow up scheduled with a surgeon here on Friday (making sure all the eyes that need to see the imaging can before then). Sweet girl has been so brave through all of this! On a positive note, there doesn't seem to be an infection inside the knee and her "ACL" looks great!

Crazy excited!

We took her remaining strips off her incisions tonight and she was just a little bit excited! She is healing well, but time is moving slowly for her: We are entering week 3 of physical therapy and she is excited to get to add some exercises to the schedule. Thank you all for all the prayers and support!

Peter's mini vacation (or a giant one)!

Nana took Peter to visit Fenway park during Addy's first appointment. He thought it was pretty awesome! (He even got to wear a World Series ring!)

And Peter and daddy got to go see the Wild beat the Bruins! (Thank you so much, nana and grampa!!!!)

Home sweet home

We made it home. The flights went really well and we came home to our favorite meal- potato dumplings! (And fresh, rearranged beds, ice for Addy's special ice "machine"- thanks to grandma and pop pop and yummy groceries and desserts from auntie Jess, uncle Ryan and Olly! And Addy is LOVING her new emoji pillow from nana- she is loving sleeping in the "throne!")

We are so grateful for all the prayers, messages, texts, treats- all the support during the last week! Words cannot express how grateful we are! She has been quite a trooper, and despite a few little moments, she is determined to feel better and to be mobile soon!

MN here we come!

We are all loaded and waiting for take off! It was a bit of a three ring circus getting on, but we are ready! Looking forward to being home.

We got the go head to fly home!

We had her follow up appointment today and everything looks great! She actually loved seeing her knee. Dressings came off! All that's left: ace bandage, crylo cuff (fancy ice pack) and brace.  So much better. Thank you for all the prayers and support! We would love prayers for patience, anxiety and smooth traveling for her tomorrow. Thank you!!!!

Making progress

After a tough night, this girlie persevered and worked hard in PT and learned how to use her crutches! (She even got to decorate them!)

Visit from Pete!

We finally made it to a room and her sweet brother was able to lay eyes on her and spend some time with her! Nana and Peter brought lots of smiles! 😊

Hanging in there

She has been doing really well! We are waiting for a room, but she had been enjoying treats and tv.

Recovery

We just met with the surgeon and everything went well! She is in recovery and hopefully we will be able to join her in 20 minutes or so.

It is happening

She went back with her surgical team at 7:30am giggling all the way! Thank you for all the prayers!

Good, good Father

This morning at breakfast in the hotel, Addy came running to grab me to make sure I heard what was playing in the dining area. Streaming through the speakers near our table we heard "Good, good Father" playing loud and clear. The kids could hardly contain their excitement, especially when they realized Chris Tomlin was singing it on TV and that was the audible TV in the dining area.

When we woke this morning the reality that surgery will happen soon caused some anxiety- rightfully and understandably so. We have stayed busy and have had lots of fun, but this morning she was heading to meet the surgeon and she started talking about her fears. Hearing "Good, good Father" was like a gentle hug reminding us that He is good, that He is capable of all things, that He is with us and loves us more than we know.

We head into tomorrow trusting and believing that we are not alone, knowing that God is with us and will continue to be us. Through prayers, messages, emails, pictures, music we have felt love from our community and our Heavenly Father!

We know Addy is in the best place for her to be and that she will come out stronger. She continues to amaze us.

Thank you for loving us and praying for our sweet girl!

Surgery Time

I'll update more later, but we received the phone call telling us that surgery is scheduled for 7:30am (6:30am MN time). We'll arrive at the hospital at 6am for prep and to meet with the anesthesiologist. They said surgery should last about 1.5 hours.

Thank you for all your prayers and support! We cannot tell you how much we appreciate it.

Aquarium

Today was a great day playing at the aquarium with cousins. We saw all sorts of fun animals and had a great time being together! What an amazing day!

A little pool fun

The flight was great! And now they are wearing off energy before they go to bed. We are looking forward to a family day of fun before the doctor appointments start on Monday.

And we are off

I love that their first choice of activities to do on the plane ride is to read! 😊

Boston here we come

We are so incredibly thankful for all the prayers and support over the last couple months as we have prepared Adela for surgery. So I decided to bring this blog back to life as we prepare to head to Boston-we would love to use this as a way to keep everyone posted as to what is going on. Today she was cleared for the over-the-phone pre-op which also takes the place of an anesthesiologist pre-op appointment. We head out tomorrow with appointments starting Monday-surgery is scheduled for Tuesday (we will know the exact time on Monday afternoon). We are so grateful for our community who prays and loves!
